The ECiDC core curriculum focuses on advanced training in four competency areas needed to meet the needs of infants and young children with high, intensive, interdisciplinary, and individualized learning needs:
(a) Population-Specific Pedagogy
(b) Research and Scholarship
(c) Teaching and Education
(d) Community Engagement and Service
Suggestions for Use
The topics within modules are designed to be flexible. The sample syllabi serve as a resource for thinking about the key sections and content to include in a syllabus, as well as ideas for content specific to the respective topics and their components. The sample syllabi are not intended to be used as a single course syllabus, as the topics would be integrated throughout a higher education curriculum. The PD guides can be used in their entirety to cover multiple PD sessions. The specific content in the topics, PD guides, multimedia illustrations (videos), learning activities, and resources can be used individually to enhance existing course content.
